Between an arrest scare in 1961 for his involvement in “Ban the Bomb” anti-nuclear organizing, and his entry into his own private law practice and more explicit forms of politics in 1968, Charles Roach primarily focused on organizing Caribbean cultural events in Toronto. In this six-minute audio cilp, Roach talks about his roles as a performer, a club owner, and an event organizer in those years, and how that lead to his participation as one of the primary early organizers behind what today has become the massive Toronto-based festival of Caribana.
